Train to Busan

Let’s kick things off by just announcing that TRAIN TO BUSAN is brilliant. A non-stop thrill ride and the undeniable classic it deserves to be. One train journey, one zombie apocalypse, and one action packed fight for survival, this truly is a spectacle to any fan for fun and zombies at a time when the genre is surrounded by doom and gloom.

There’s very little need for plot and what TRAIN TO BUSAN leaves at the departure lounge, builds in character and heart amongst its passengers. Where the zombie film has run flat over recent years with the sub-genre taken over with post-WALKING DEAD survival stories that have never bettered the grandmasters of the genre, TRAIN TO BUSAN gives it an adrenaline fuelled kick up the ass with blood, guts and a whole lot of heart.

From the outset, the film doesn’t mess around with the setting of a zombie outbreak, and as the passengers board the train to Busan, the infection gets on board and battles its way to the front carriage to disastrous results.

While the subject would be more akin to SNAKES ON A PLANE than the genres more famed Romero Trilogy could easily be mistaken yet behind this vehicle is a lot more depth and passion for the genre than a mere B-Movie could ever offer. If anything, it shows Hollywood a thing or two about how to contain a mass apocalypse without keeping the infection off-screen, moments of WORLD WAR Z, DAWN OF THE DEAD and even some light humour all morph into an entertaining and emotional rollercoaster ride through a different perspective.

The news that this has already been green-lit is a travesty as TRAIN TO BUSAN is a classic in its own right that no imitation can compare to so grab a copy, sit back, and buckle yourself in for a journey you won’t forget.
