Ibiza Undead

Sometimes, behind the drame, the action and surviving the monster, the horror genre needs a holiday and it's finally getting a trip to party capital of Europe, Ibiza.

IBIZA UNDEAD is a colourful, neon lit trip for three friends, Alex, Az and Big Jim on a trip to get laid and escape their troubles. Accompanied by Alex's ex-girlfriend Ellie, the group take lodgings in a villa and discover the local nightlife. To their dispair, the party is quickly ruined by the arrival of th undead and they bttle together to survive th holiday of a lifetime.

In principle, IBIZA UNDEAD is an fun throwaway movie the comes across as THE INBETWEENERS mees SHAUN OF THE DEAD, the issue lies with a script that tries to emulate those rather than be its own and in doing so, does so badly.

Big Jim's quips on women and teen life quickly get annoying and the stereotypical view of the lads break is worse than any episode of HOLIDAYS FROM HELL. If you can brave another moment of Jim's referral to "bitches" and "fucking" after the first dozen times, you may be able to brace yourself for the rest of the film which doesn't get much better.

Take away the horror of the script and you're left with a bare bones zombie outbreak that adds nothing to fans of zombies or film in general. Despite some fun with some of the zombie attacks, the infection that is the cast of unlikable characters who are characatures of even the worst stereotype of teenagers turns attention away from the action.

Surprisingly, for a film based in Ibiza, the soundtrack is as bland as the taste buds of the undead leaving nothing more than a late night snack when you really have no other choice to watch. IBIZA UNDEAD is a zombie film on vacation but one that feels as though the parents tagged along and gatecrashed the party. This should have been fun, bit in trying too hard to be "cool" and attract the lad market of immature 14 year olds, it fails at being funny or enjoyable.
