Film Masterclass with Carlos Gallardo

Intense Productions in association with UK Trade and Investment NW are pleased to announce they will be bringing to the UK, the critically acclaimed and award winning Actor and Hollywood Producer Carlos Gallardo to take part in a series of exclusive one day film masterclasses focusing on ‘How to Make a Micro Budget Film & Sell It’ from 28th April – 5th May.

 

Carlos Gallardo co-wrote, starred in and produced the acclaimed independent feature film EL MARIACHI shot for a budget of $7,000 which marked the feature directorial debut of his long time friend, Robert Rodriguez. Winner of the Audience Award at Sundance in 1993 the film launched the careers of both Gallardo and Rodriguez in Hollywood who went on to produce the hugely successful box office hits DESPERADO starring Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek and ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO starring Johnny Depp, Mickey Rourke, Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek for Columbia Pictures with Rodriguez at the helm. 

 

Often quoted as a film which re-defined the Independent film industry, EL MARIACHI entered the books of cinema history and inspired a generation of filmmakers including most famously, The Soska Twins. Now filmmakers will have the opportunity to hear and learn from Carlos Gallardo.

The intensive one day film masterclasses will cover screen writing, raising finance, casting, production, post production, sales and distribution and are designed to equip filmmakers with valuable information to launch a successful feature film through chaired panel discussions and Q&A sessions, case studies of commercially successful independent productions that have raised finance, secured talent, as well as securing international sales and worldwide distribution. Filmmakers will have the opportunity to gain industry secrets on how to develop, produce, market and promote their work.

 

Speaking alongside Gallardo will be Writer/ Director/ Producer and MD of Intense Productions and Intense Distribution, Chee Keong Cheung who recently released the critically acclaimed horror/ thriller, Banshee Chapter Executive Produced by Zachary Quinto’s (‘Star Trek’, ‘Heroes’) Before the Door Pictures (‘All is Lost’, ‘Margin Call’). Also guest speaking will be Mark Strange who produced the independent film DISPLACED which featured Sir Ian McKellen.
