FETISH FACTORY

When a host of zombies take over a Burlesque parlour, its hosts become the victims as they fight for survival in a B-movie cult classic that won’t set the world alight but will certainly arouse the attention of low budget horror fans. Starring Carrie Keagan (THE FIANCE, V/H/S VIRAL, SHAKNADO 4), Jennifer Blanc-Biehn (THE VICTIM, EVERLY) Elisa Dowling (WE ARE STILL HERE, THIRSTY, CHEAP THRILLS) and Tristan Risk (AMERICAN MARY, FRANKENSTEIN CREATED BIKERS, AYLA), FETISH FACTORY is less of an independent horror movie and more an ensemble horror movie.

At only 70 minutes long, FETISH FACTORY is by no means a long experience, and barely long enough at all. With a first peak of terror not before the 25 minute mark, that only leaves just over half a hour of zombie action but when it happens, the force of the undead comes thick and fast. Top that with the abrupt ending and it’s hard to see wither director Staci Layne Wilson has run out of budget or ideas. A shame as up until that point the movie is as entertaining as it is gruesome.

With a bevy of beauties at the centre of the film, that characters lead the way and as they are picked off one by one, the drama ensues. While the film is a zombie feature at heart, its tongue is certainly pierced through its cheek as the cast and crew never take it too seriously. Arming themselves with beauty products or a zombie priest saying hail Mary, there is nothing too dark to worry about here and there is no ignoring the films low budget. Yet the charismatic leads, mixed with some genuinely gripping zombie action means that this is a late night popcorn flick for the hardened zombie fan.

With a cast as seasoned, and inspiring, as FETISH FACTORY is a little disappointing from what it could have been but is certainly no less fun for it. Staci Layne Wilson has had a good stab at bringing her name to horror audiences and it would be great to see her amongst the other ladies of horror given a budget to really deliver something magical. Blood, broads and beauty are the name of the game, and zombie slashing is their game.
