Daniel

Opening up with what appears to be a bungled burglary and the gruesome death of “mother”, ‘Daniel’ is a tease to the talent of director Peter Dukes who gave us last year’s brilliant short homage to the origins of horror, ‘The Beast’.

Appearances can be deceptive and from the opening as the brutal burglars turn out to be not what you expect and the reason for seeking young Daniel is far more darker than you could imagine.

Beautifully shot with echoes of Kubrick, an unsettling score and great story telling all cut together to tell a haunting short story in a limited time slot. For a film which is shorter than most trailers, this is a fantastic sneak peek into the mind of Dukes who has shown he is a creative mind to look out for.

Dukes has said that he wanted the challenge to tell a complete story in a minimal amount of time, a challenge duly tested and far exceeded, all credit goes to a tight script and some great, albeit brief, performances from the cast involved.
