Halloween (2007)

Rob Zombie injects little new in this stylish but pointless remake of Halloween adding back story and gore but very little else to the terrifying classic. Kudos however as still standing as one of the best entries in the series and spawning the highly original sequel where Zombie lets loose on his own
Plot: 3 Fear: 5 Gore: 5

Hellraiser
Based on Clive Barker's book and directed by the guy himself makes sure that this film adaptation does not stray away from its source. From the opening of Frank's bloody dismemberment to the world of the Cenebites, Hellraiser is a brilliant example of fantasy and horror taken through a kinky S&M session. Pinhead is evil personified with his calm manner and ultimate goal to give the best pleasure in return for a soul. Hellraiser has spawned a not so brilliant series of sequels (with the exception of Hellbound and Deader) but it seems that nothing can tarnish this classic 80's horror.
Plot: 5 Fear: 5 Gore: 5

House of 1000 Corpses
Rob Zombies cult classic has it all, blood, humour, memorable killers! Capturing the prime of the essence of what made the golden age of horror so brilliant. Creating the greatest horror family since The Munster, The Firefly's make The Texas Chainsaw Massacre family look like the Flintstones.
